About the Artist
Lor Gill is an abstract contemporary artist. She expresses herself through oils and acrylics, watercolor, mixed media, and block printing.Lor applies a layering technique to her watercolours, modeled after the masters, adding depth and life to her preferred subjects: stills, landscapes, and botanical images inspired by her childhood in New England, and life in the American Southeast, Southwest, and travel abroad in England, Nova Scotia, Scotland, France, Austria, Australia, Italy, and Latin America.She comes from a family legacy of fine artists, textile creators, and fine art educators who taught at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).She is a member of Marion Cultural Alliance and the Webber Gallery Visual Artists' Society.Select Exhibitions2024

Bespoke Caning RestorationBespoke caning, or hand-caning, is a form of weaving that is functional and beautiful. This craft originated in the 16th century for furniture. This is the preferred method of restoration for antique and vintage seating.Pressed Caning RestorationPressed caning restoration uses a pre-woven cane that is pressed and fastened with a natural binder, or spline.
